What a sire!  Richters individual performance is in the top three ever at Talana.  Incredibly deep sided and smooth patterned, Richter has a huge topline and and is wonderfully well natured.  All traits that he passes to his progeny.

His flush sister GLG Rha'tia produced the Talana stud sire that followed Richter with her very first calf (GLG Thor).  Another sister, CPL Kwality sold at auction for $16500 and is known as a very good female.  Richters dam, CPL Fashion sold at auction for $30000 and was interbreed champion at the Sydney Royal.

Richter was never broken in or shown, and was handed stud duties at about 14 months of age.  He came back in at about 31 months of age to prepare for sale and finished up close to 1000kgs at 36 months off a crop of oats.

Gary Smythe will testify to the extreme docility of Richter.  Gary purchased Richter, who became semi-lame with stone bruising.  Richter was never pulled out of service and Gary would take a needle down to him every couple of days and administer it wherever the bull was.  Gary would even scrape the wound clean and apply bluestone while Richter was still in the paddock.

We are extremely pleased to announce that Richter has managed to pass this wonderful nature to his progeny, even the extreme docility of the sire himself in some circumstances.  2001 will see the first Richter sons drafted for sale.  Don't miss them.

Most Notable Richter Progeny

Talana Up A Class (MEM Louise x GLG Richter)

Garry first found this calf when he was about three days old.  The next day we all dropped what we were doing and drove about 30 minutes to that agistment block especially to see him.  Anthony's reaction is now part of family folklore.  Up A Class was simply the most extraordinary calf that we had ever seen, and he has not failed to grow into his potential.  This bull has the girth and rib capacity of good bulls six months older than him.  His individual performance is paralleled by only two other bulls in Talana history (one of them his sire), his nature is second to none.  If Up A Class was not a cross of the Heda line over the Fashion line and was not related to 90% of our females, he would never have been offered for sale.
