Ramornie Akela K30 DOB - 14/11/1990
In 1998, we decided that we would introduce the polled gene into parts of the Talana herd following a couple of inquiries for that trait. When investigating the polled bloodlines in Australia we had difficulty finding female lines that carried the commercial traits that we were breeding with our French-Pure cattle as well as carrying the predictability we required. Sure we found some very good individuals but not many large families of similar quality cattle. With one exception. Ramornie Akela K30 was the best polled cow that we saw, no doubt about it. When we saw some daughters in production and some young calves we were hooked. We decided then and there that she would fit well into our donor pen. We still rate Akela K30 as the most complete polled cow that we have seen in the flesh. She is very long, thick, soft and well conformed producing a tremendous amount of milk. GLG Vesuvius, an apricot, polled son by Wulfs Explosion will probably become a senior herd sire and remain so for several years. Notable Joinings
Most Notable Akela K30 Progeny GLG Vesuvius (TWR Akela K30 x Wulfs Explosion)
GLG Warm & Fuzzy (TWR Akela K30 x Wulfs Gaurdian)
