Louise is our super reliable, super predictable workhorse. Top price
female at 1993 Toowoomba Ag-Show and a superb daughter of the magnificent Yojai
Heda. Louise has produced over sixty calves. To give you an indication of how well she actually does
produce for us, 2001 was the first year that we have not flushed her, and
she responded by giving us twin heifers!!
Selecting a sire for Louise is a very simple procedure because we know exactly
what will be weaned regardless of sire: she has never missed. Her calves
are all moderate framed, all as thick as they come, and all long and well
patterned. The only real difference between her progeny is the exact
length and colour of the coat.
This is the most predictable family line in the breed that we know
about. Louise produces so many progeny per flush that we cannot list them
all below (just a few of the better ones)

Most Notable Louise Progeny
GLG Rayne
(MEM Louise x Hammel
Buffalo)
Who would have thought that the first female bred from Louise
would be this good. Follow the hyperlink to read more.
GLG Sapphire (MEM Louise x Hammel Garder)
We regard the Louise x Garder joining as the best flush litter
that we have ever calved. While the six heifers landed are not quite the
superstars of GLG Storm (calved at the same time) they are only the smallest
margin behind her. This joining is all tops, no middle or bottom - a
truly exciting step towards breeding predictability.
GLG U Heffner (MEM Louise x
Golden)
U Heffner is well named, being a 2001 herd sire and cover
sire for the Fashion Line. His carcass and eye appeal are second to
none.
GLG Ugenie (MEM Louise x Hammel
Buffalo)
Ugenie is a flush sister to GLG Rayne and probably the highest
performing heifer that we have ever raised. With little supplement,
Ugenie weighed 500kg at 13 months. Her rib shape and body capacity have
to be seen to be believed.
GLG Up A Class
(MEM Louise x GLG
Richter)
Garry first found this calf when he was about three days
old. The next day we all dropped what we were doing and drove about 30
minutes to that agistment block especially to see him. Anthony's
reaction is now part of family folklore. Up A Class was simply the most
extraordinary calf that we had ever seen, and he has not failed to grow into
his potential. This bull has the girth and rib capacity of good bulls
six months older than him. His individual performance is paralleled by
only two other bulls in Talana history (one of them his sire), his nature is second to none. If
Up A Class was not a cross of the Heda line over the Fashion line and was not
related to 90
% of our females, he would never have been be offered for
sale.
